About this blog
In this blog, I write about the revival of Sacred Harp singing that is centered in the urban areas of the northern and western United States. Rather than take an academic approach, I use techniques derived from creative nonfiction and documentary writing. I’m a Sacred Harp singer myself, and true to the tradition of creative nonfiction I write in the first person; I’m writing about myself and us, not about you and them.

About me

I began singing Sacred Harp in 2008 in New England, and have been singing regularly ever since. Currently I live in San Mateo, California, and sing nearly every week in the bass section of the local singing in Berkeley, California. Professionally, I’m a Unitarian Universalist minister. — Dan Harper
